The Wales Women in STEM: Inaugural Symposium will address the barriers restricting women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. It will bring together those who can implement change in the sector and those who work to create a positive environment in which women and girls are celebrated and supported throughout their careers.
A range of speakers will participate in the event, including Jane Hutt, Deputy Minister and Chief Whip and Dr Tara Shine. A series of workshops will also take place in the afternoon, addressing the following questions:

Our keynote speaker is Dr Tara Shine. She is passionate about changing the conversation on climate change and sustainability. She is an environmental scientist with over 20 years’ experience working as an adviser to governments and world leaders, as a negotiator and a researcher. Tara also presents wildlife and nature documentaries for RTE and the BBC and swims in the sea any chance she gets. She was the first woman living in Ireland to take part in Homeward Bound, a global leadership programme for women in science, which involved an expedition to Antarctica in January 2019. |
