Techniquest is an educational STEM enrichment charity and was one of the UK’s first science discovery centres.  Established in 1986, its mission is to embed science in Welsh culture through interactive engagement.  Techniquest provides a range of services to schools and teachers to complement formal education provision in Wales and works extensively with public audiences both at the centre in Cardiff and through its community outreach work.  Techniquest’s exciting Science Capital project will increase the exhibition floorspace by 60% and will house brand new innovative content, helping the charity to diversify its audience and make science accessible to all.
Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS) is a major European Convergence programme led by Bangor University on behalf of the HE sector in Wales. Benefiting from European Social Funds (ESF), KESS will support collaborative research projects (Research Masters and PhD) with external partners based in the Convergence area of Wales. KESS will run from 2009 until 2014 and will provide 400+ PhD and Masters places.

The NDEC is a co-funded and co-developed project between Thales and the Welsh Government. It offers training in digital practices, cyber security and research. Its Digital Education Centre is led by the University of South Wales which allows individuals, schools and small businesses to thrive in a digital economy.
The Physics Mentoring Project places trained undergraduate students from five Welsh universities into secondary schools across Wales, to mentor and inspire future physicists. Kindly funded by HEFCW as a part of their initiative for “Enhancing civic mission and community engagement”, the project aims to raise the profile of the Physics A level, specifically for females, whilst offering classroom experience to university undergraduates.
