We work with: Young people from all backgrounds to have the aspiration, knowledge and skills to thrive, with more progressing into STEM-related careers; employers to gain access to knowledgeable, talented people with strong STEM skills; teachers of STEM subjects to continually develop their STEM knowledge and experience, maximising their impact and own job satisfaction; and families and communities to recognise the value of STEM to young people, encouraging and supporting them in STEM-related studies and careers. |
Science Made Simple is hosted by Cardiff University. It is a social enterprise with a passion for science and all things associated with it! We aim to share our enthusiasm by offering a selection of inspirational and educational experiences that are tailor-made for schools, festivals, adult audiences and the public.

Techniquest is an educational STEM enrichment charity and was one of the UK’s first science discovery centres. Established in 1986, its mission is to embed science in Welsh culture through interactive engagement. Techniquest provides a range of services to schools and teachers to complement formal education provision in Wales and works extensively with public audiences both at the centre in Cardiff and through its community outreach work. Techniquest’s exciting Science Capital project will increase the exhibition floorspace by 60% and will house brand new innovative content, helping the charity to diversify its audience and make science accessible to all.

Hands on Science is about encouraging young people across Wales to study Science, Maths and Health related subjects beyond GCSE. Hands on Science is a partnership of higher education institutions, further education colleges and other education providers throughout Wales. Hands on Science is an all Wales HEFCW funded project working in partnership with Welsh Colleges, universities, other higher Education institutions and outside providers. It is part of the Reaching Wider Welsh Assembly Government initiative. The projects main aim is to promote, enthuse and increase the number of pupils studying Science, Maths and Health related subjects beyond GCSE and on to further and higher education.

The Institute of Physics is a scientific charity devoted to increasing the practice, understanding and application of physics. It has a worldwide membership of over 36,000 and is a leading communicator of physics-related science to all audiences, from specialists through to government and the general public.
Funded by the Welsh Government, the IOP are working with schools in Wales on a range of projects. The Stimulating Physics Network programme provides free professional development to teachers of physics across the country, and the pilot Improving Gender Balance project works collaboratively with primary and secondary schools to identify and address issues around gender imbalance in all subject choices. |
The NDEC is a co-funded and co-developed project between Thales and the Welsh Government. It offers training in digital practices, cyber security and research. Its Digital Education Centre is led by the University of South Wales which allows individuals, schools and small businesses to thrive in a digital economy.

The Physics Mentoring Project places trained undergraduate students from five Welsh universities into secondary schools across Wales, to mentor and inspire future physicists. Kindly funded by HEFCW as a part of their initiative for “Enhancing civic mission and community engagement”, the project aims to raise the profile of the Physics A level, specifically for girls, whilst offering classroom experience to university undergraduates.

Technocamps' mission is " to inspire, motivate and engage people with computational thinking and promote computer science as underpinning all aspects of modern society.” We do this by providing inspirational workshops for Primary schools, STEM Enrichment Programmes for secondary schools, training for teachers, degree apprenticeships to support businesses, skills competitions and inspirational events in the wider community. Our services are fully funded by Welsh and European Government support. We hope to inspire, motivate and engage a generation of digital innovators through computer science.
